For some people, Monday is the most annoying day in the world! I have ever had the same thought and have been in the same position 🙂 – it all happened several years ago when I decided to work in an office, trying to find out what it felt like to work in a corporate world, where there’s a boss and an office hour, where I had to wear the formal clothes, collared shirt and all that.
It’s been four years since those days passed, but not long ago all the memories were coming back to me. A conversation with a friend made me think and got me into a reflective mode.
I sympathize you guys who are trapped in your office, fed up to go to work and just by seeing its building makes you want to throw up. You guys who are afraid to make mistakes and get blamed every single day. You, who when shout at by your boss, feel cornered and confused between wanting to defend yourself or just simply cry. You are helpless and you can’t do anything about it.
Whereas those who yell at you either don’t realize that they have crossed the line, and then we start to feel pity for them instead. What are they so stressed out about when they have so much money? How could they look so cool and civilized in social media when they use harsh words and swears when they talk with their employees? Ain’t they tired to keep on yelling? Why is it that the taller the building is and the longer zero they have in their income make it harder for them to control their emotion?
How ironic.
Why does success often go hand in hand with arrogance? Why does firmness have to be identified with yelling and fear? Why does power often mean that they can consider people as merely objects and no longer humans? Why do they feel satisfied when they succeed to make other people afraid and bow to them? Why is it so easy to belittle someone without having the courage to say sorry? What’s so great in being rich and famous but then you are disliked by so many people?
Wise men say; a person’s life is not valued by how much money and wealth she has, it’s not by how smart and famous she is, and also not by the great works she has done, but it is valued by the heart and feelings of people who have known her. How do you want to be known? How do we want to leave our legacy?
Is your boss bad-tempered? Or are you a bad-tempered boss?
If you are a father or a mother (to be), or if you have a father and a mother, this message is for you:
Please make your children and parents proud by becoming a kind hearted, generous and patient boss/ leader. Being a boss or leader who is disliked by many makes people question, what it is like to be their wife or husband and children at home. Being a boss or leader who is disliked by many increase your own deficiency (planting bad karma) and consciously make others become careless in their act (planting bad karma too) because they are going to be annoyed and gossiping us behind our backs.
I am sure that in our surroundings there are many bosses who help us become tough and be closer to God (because of how depressed we are). And sure there are bosses whose attitude and words can really be role models. I hope when we are rich and famous someday (or now), and if we really have to be that rich and famous, we can always remember to be a leader who is loving and loved by many, not the ones who people are afraid of and demonize about.
Because sometimes the boss forgets that wheels spin! They may be on top now, but it doesn’t mean someday they are not going to fall down to the bottom. People who we easily take for granted now can have higher position than us someday.
Let’s pray for our bosses and our own selves so that we can be good bosses and role models.
