Yay… finally…!
After many of you guys ask me, “where’s the video…?” and many encourage me to continue writing Q&A article like last week, finally my interview video with Mingyur Rinpoche has been released in Buddhazine youtube channel.
And so, this is Part 1..! There are five questions being answered here… Mingyur Rinpoche talks about meditation (of course), his sense of humour, the ups and downs of relationships, married life and family, about taking care special needs children, and also about the world economic crisis.

One of the thing that touches me the most in this video is how Mingyur Rinpoche clearly, simply, and beautifully talks about the true nature within us that we can perceive and meet through meditation.
According to him, there’s a research saying that if people have ten qualities within them, actually it’ll consist of nine good qualities and only one of the less good one. But oftentimes we are only focusing on that one bad quality and exaggerate it.
Through meditation we are invited to recognize the good qualities within us. The goodness that’s been there since the beginning of time. The basic goodness, as Rinpoche said. Each and everyone of us, without exception, has it within us. Our true nature, who we really are.
It’s like a person who has and wears a watch, but he does not know that he’s wearing it. Doesn’t matter how good and how expensive the watch is, that person is not aware of it, and therefore, has no way to use the watch to show him the time. It is the same as a person whose inner eye is yet unopened.
We all have this noble and divine qualities within us. If we are not aware of them, of course we cannot engage them to help us in life. Meditation enables us to recognize, to touch, to feel, to practice, to embody, and TO BE our true nature.
Let’s practice together! If this interview calls upon you, nudges you and makes you feel curious to dwelve deeper into meditation, or if it inspires you to be more diligent in your meditation practice, you can try these few suggestions below.
1. Practice together at Tergar Indonesia
Tergar is a meditation community under the guidance of Mingyur Rinpoche. Practising with an active community will help you a lot in growing your meditation and spiritual practices.
2. Practice with a compatible teacher or meditation community
Wherever you are and whatever your background is, you can find a teacher or a meditation community that suits you best. There are various teachers with different religious backgrounds, and there are also some very universal ones who use scientific approach when they teach. You can learn meditation in a monastery, yes, but you can also learn meditation in holistic health retreats, a community not far from your house, at a yoga studio where you practice, or even online! Seek and you shall find.
3. Practice together with my friends and I
I am not a meditation teacher, I am simply a meditation partner. Your friend in meditating together. Everyday my friends and I support and encourage each other in our whatsapp group to meditate routinely in our own place. Every Wednesday night we have an online group meditation. And once a month, also on Wednesday, we gather to meditate together. If you’re interested in joining this whatsapp group and receive supports from like-minded friends, you can let me know here.
There are many reasons for you not to try. But just give yourself one strong reason on why you would be courageous enough to try and take your first step. Your future self will thank the decision your present life is making today.
Thank you so much for reading. I know this article and video will help many people out there to find answers, to recognize the benefits of meditation, and to live happier lives. Please help me to share this article to all your family and friends. Invite them to watch the video and meditate together with you.
Happiness is only real when shared. Share, grow hand in hand, and let’s be happy together. That’s my sincere wish to all of us. Love you, guys! See you soon.
